It’s the Small Things

26 Oct

This week I finally got into the Halloween Spirit (and candy)!

Halloween is my favorite holiday and I love the feel, look and smell of it. You know the smell, when you can smell Fall or a wood stove for the first time….. That always reminds me of Halloween.

This week I am grateful for fun Halloween decorations

The American Horror nights with the Husband and our friend Cannon! We started watching American Horror last year and making fun food, drinking wine and hanging out! Such fun nights!

Cannon and me!

The Pretty Little Liar Halloween special was this week! And if that was not great on its own, my friend and fellow blogger Arantha came over to watch with me. We made a fun fall fruit and cheese plate,  ate some rotisserie chicken and drank some red wine. Everything was healthy until we broke into the Halloween candy and made ourselves sick because we ate too much.  I guess you never learn…..

I also enjoyed two pets with their tongues sticking out.

Have a great weekend!

Happy Fourth of July . . . . a few days late!

9 Jul

It’s been a busy time in my life. I have been running all over the place planning parties, going out of town and trying to keep up with my house and still have a life.

So as a result the blog has been put on the back burner! But I am going to try to get in the routine of writing again. It will be a new hobby 🙂

Fourth of July is so much fun for my family and me! Every year we go to Jemez Springs and watch the “parade” (It’s so small and cute I don’t know if people from bigger cities would classify this as a parade but I LOVE IT! And to us, it’s a parade)

We then eat at the wonderful Los Ojos (get the fried zucchini! Sooooooo good!) You can stroll to the park and listen to good music, buy some cool stuff and see people from all over! I love the 4th!

We typically then take the dogs to my mom’s house and left them run around in the river. However I learned a couple summers ago when I went to West Virginia what a real river looks like – so we call the trickle of water in our back yard a river but someone from West Virginia might call it a creek. . . .

Either way it cools the dogs off and we have fun splashing around.

We picked apricots and then drove back to Albuquerque for the annual 4th of July nap before the fireworks!

Hope everyone had a great 4th sorry my post is late 🙂

Bruce and Rhonda taking a break! About 30 min after this picture was taken – someone dropped the most tender, juicy ribs on the ground and let Bruce and Rhonda eat them. They were happy!

Jemez! So pretty!

New York – 1969

10 May

My Dad had an amazing life! He visited six continents – the only one he didn’t get to see was Europe!  Weird right? I mean he even went to Antarctica – but he never went to Europe? I have even been to Europe! But he said he never had a desire to go there.  He said if he could go on a free trip he would go back to the Middle East or Africa.

He had a lot of amazing stories and as I have now discovered a lot of incredible pictures! I found these pictures of New York amongst some other treasures. I know that his high school girlfriend was a flight attendant for a brief period of time with Pan Am (yes like the show for us younger kiddos) and she had to go to New York for her job.

Well, she took these pictures and sent them to my dad. Who ended up driving from Albuquerque to New York (I believe in his VW van) to pick her up when she decided the aviation industry was not for her.  Great guy? I say yes!

I hope you enjoy these pictures as much as I do!

And thank you Betz for taking them!
