The 12th Date of Christmas

18 Jan

So on our final date I took Shane to a trampoline park!

Yes that’s right a trampoline park!

Imagine a huge room filled with trampolines. Trampolines that go on the wall! It was the best place ever! We went to Xtreme Hang Time in Albuquerque.

There was an area for trampoline dodgeball area where Shane and I played with two little red-head boys (one of which hit me hard in the boob and laughed!) There was also an area where you could jump, tumble and flip into foam pits. If you have ever been to a gymnastic gym the have similar pits you can try new skills into – so fun but SO SO SO hard to get out of! Shane and I had a blast! It was a great work out and we were sore the next day but we had so much fun! We got some gift certificates for my little cousins to try it out. We have been back a couple of times since!!

After that fun I took Shane to an arcade called Nickel city and we played our favorite arcade game Area 51! We LOVE that game and it’s old so hard to find. At Nickel city you pay $2 to get in and some of the games are free – so when we found out Area 51 was a free game we went crazy! So much fun! A great way to end the 12 dates of Christmas!

The 12 dates of Christmas were a lot of fun and really made Shane and I get creative and considerate during a time of year that can easily stress. It also gave us time to appreciate each other and not worry about all the commercial factors Christmas brings with it. If we do this again next  year the only thing I would do different is start a little earlier. But so fun, romantic and beautiful!!

It’s the Small Things

2 Nov

This week I am grateful for so many things but I feel a little selfish since because so many people are without electricity the comfort of their homes or even their home. Hurricane Sandy left her mark along the east coast and in Haiti so here is a link to give to the relief of the families, people and animals she hurt.

Every year the husband’s parents and brother and sis come over to carve pumpkins. My brother joins if he does not have to work. This year Shane and I had about 12 pumpkins and although my pumpkin was the toughest bastard ever and didn’t want to be cut (Shane had to use a drill on it) I managed.

I also had to decorate a pumpkin for work. I did two because one was a little easy. I came in second place with the hedgehog! But no one voted for my pumpkin pi:(

The husband and I love Halloween and since the husband is an awesome artist he decorates the hose so cool for Halloween!

I am also grateful for these crazy animals we have!

Crazy Boo Boo

Bruce and Rhonda sleep on each other when there is an entire bed for them to spread out on. Awwww

Have a great weekend!

31 Oct

I love Halloween and have been busy with my costumes and Halloween plans so sorry for the lack of posts.

This year I had two costumes. One for parties and one for work. Anytime I can get away with wearing comfy clothes to work I take it so I decided to be a Ninja. And I must say it’s very fun carrying around fake swords!

My other costume is a dead bride. I have two Halloween events to go to this year so I get to wear it twice!

So everyone enjoy Halloween, dress up (you are never too old) eat candy, watch scary movies and carve some pumpkins!

Thanks Husband for putting a ring on it! I love you!

Adult Night, Weddings, Art Show and Breaking Bad- What I Did This Weekend

25 Sep

I had a wonderful weekend!

I spent Friday night with great friends at Explora’s Adult Night. To clarify, Adult Night is a chance for “adults” to go play in a children’s museum. No kids are allowed! YAY!!!

Saturday I had the pleasure of attending one of the most beautiful weddings I have ever been to. Seriously, wedding needs to be in a magazine and it helps that the bride and groom could totally be the models they are so pretty!

The wedding was outside at the groom’s mom’s house. They had these wheat silos they emptied out and they had the bar in there. There were beautiful twinkle lights strung over the dance floor and the tables.  The food was delicious and served family style which was something I had never experienced. It was really amazing because it made us interact with and get to know the other people at our table.

This wedding was so beautiful – great job to everyone involved. And congratulations to Ryan and Lisa!

Burke Family – some of us are missing. And I don’t know why they took it from so far away! We were also doing a mix of silly photos with normal ones – this was in between.

Ryan and Lisa – the beautiful bride and groom!

Sunday was dedicated to recovery from the wedding, watching football and most importantly going to an art show the Husband was in! His painting even sold! Congratulations to you Husband.

Sprinkled throughout the weekend the Husband and I watched some episodes of Breaking Bad season two! Yes we have joined the masses. And this show is really amazing! LOVE IT!

Tropical Ginger Punch and Tea Sandwiches

12 Jul

As promised here are some recipes I made for the baby shower I hosted last Saturday!

Tropical Ginger Punch

I made this drink for the shower, I tripled the recipe since it was for so many people (and I really like vodka!) It’s delicious, light and summary!

What you need:

3 cups orange juice

3 cups pineapple juice

1 tablespoon finely grated peeled fresh ginger

2 cups vodka

4 cups (32 ounces) chilled ginger ale or club soda

Orange wedges, for garnish (optional)

In a large pitcher, stir together orange juice, pineapple juice, ginger, and vodka.

Refrigerate until cold, at least 1 hour (and up to 1 week).

Just before serving, stir in ginger ale.

Serve over ice, garnished with orange wedges, if desired.

I also made these delicious tea sandwiches! Yumm so good and a little prissy!

Classic Cucumber Tea Sandwich

What you need:

4 ounces cream cheese

1/4 cup finely chopped fresh herbs, such as flat-leaf parsley, basil, tarragon, or mint (I used mint because we grow it in our back yard)

8 slices wheat bread (I used different types of bread for fun)

1 piece (4 inches) cucumber, very thinly sliced into rounds

2 tablespoons softened butter

Place cream cheese and herbs in a bowl; stir with a rubber spatula until combined.

Spread cream cheese mixture on 4 slices of bread; layer with cucumber. Spread remaining slices of bread with butter. Place, butter side facing down, on radishes. Trim crusts; cut sandwiches in half.
