8th Date of Christmas

21 Dec

On the 8th date of Christmas I took Shane on our “Something Old” date. We got tickets from our good friend Joann (she has season tickets and let us have them for this game) to the Lobo Aggie men’s basketball game.

This qualifies as something old because Shane and I loved going to NMSU basketball games in Las Cruces! And since they only come to Albuquerque once a year to play the Lobos I thought it would be fun to wear NMSU/Aggie t-shirts in a sea of Lobos.

NMSU and UNM have a big rivalry being the only division one schools in New Mexico. And although the Aggies lost (UNM is really good – ranked 16th in the nation!) we had a lot of fun!

After the game I took Shane to our favorite restaurant Mimmo’s Ristorante and Pizzeria. WE LOVE THIS PLACE! We want to submit it to be on Diners, Dive-ins and Dives.

After dinner we went home and baked up a storm – seriously we stayed up super late baking Christmas treats. This is something we do every year so it fit with the “Something Old” date.

7th Date of Christmas

20 Dec

On the 7th date of Christmas Shane made me dinner and we watched the best Christmas movie EVER!

We watched Home Alone which is one of the best Christmas movies EVER! Now don’t get me wrong White Christmas will always be my favorite Christmas movie but Home Alone is second!

And every time I watch home alone I always crave a cheese pizza and mac cheese! Which is exactly what Shane made me.

Now you have to understand that Shane makes the best mac cheese EVER! And my wonderful friend Michelle gave me some penguin pasta so Shane made mac cheese with penguin pasta.  Then we had ice cream!

Best night ever!!!

Click here are some fun trivia facts you might not have known about Home Alone

6th Date of Christmas

19 Dec

On the 6th date of Christmas Shane and I had a “Stay at Home Date” – this was originally supposed to be a “Get out of the House” date…. But Shane and I are natural homebodies and it was cold out so we decided to stay home decorate the tree and eat junk food. It was raining and windy and it was the perfect day to snuggle up and make relax.

We put on Elf (which I think is one of the best newer Christmas movies and will someday be a classic) and I handed Shane ornaments for and he put them on the tree.  It was a great and cozy day!

5th Date of Christmas

18 Dec

On the 5th date of Christmas we went to see the Nutcracker!

Strangely, I have never seen this ballet before! Shane took me for our something new date and it was beautiful!

After the ballet we had ice cream. Can’t get much better than that!

4th Date of Christmas

5 Dec

I took Shane to a dinner and a movie for our 4th Date of Christmas!

We went to this amazing Mediterranean & Persian restaurant called Pars Cuisine. My friend Rochelle took me there once and she knows what good Persian food is because she’s Persian! It’s like someone from New Mexico approving of Mexican food somewhere other than the Southwest!

So I wanted to introduce Shane to some amazing and different food! I meant to take pictures of the food, but it was so good it didn’t last too long!

After that we went and saw a movie at the dollar movies! And this particular movie theater (Cinemark Movies 8 on San Mateo means a lot to me because I feel like I saw most movies there when I was young with my brother. We saw FernGully, A Time to Kill, White Men Can’t Jump, Desperado and many more!

Shane and I FINALLY saw Dark Knight Rises. We might have been the last people in the world to see this movie but it was worth the wait! WE LOVED IT!

So good!

And I bought the DVD yesterday so we can watch it again and again!

Have you guys watched the Dark Knight Rises? Do you think it was the best of the Trilogy?

Best Christmas Gifts

4 Dec

Tis the season of shopping and Christmas presents and all that jazz!

I have been doing some shopping and trying to get done with gifts early this year! But I started thinking about the best presents I have got throughout my years and I guess I am lucky because I have a lot!

The best present I have ever been given was a jewelry box in 2007 to go with the engagement ring I got on Christmas Eve! Best present ever!

And the best present I got as a kid was Paradise Estates. I waited years for that house! And I LOVED it – still have it!

One of the most memorable gift I ever got was a trip to Disneyland. My parents surprised my brother and me! How awesome right!! Every Christmas we would make the journey from Jemez to Albuquerque to go to my grandparents’ house.

But one year we went to the train station (which no longer exists) instead. There we were told we were going to take a train to Disneyland! We were so excited!!! And we got on the train and took off and an hour later our train stopped. And we waited…. And waited…. And waited. Turns out the trains in front of us derailed and we couldn’t go any further.

We were just a little outside Albuquerque – they put us on greyhound busses and shipped us off to Disneyland. LONGEST TRIP EVER! But so much fun once we got there. Oh and my brother and I were younger and probably annoying.

The Husband’s best Christmas gifts include Bruce – we go him in 2005 from a family in El Paso. They didn’t speak English and we didn’t speak Spanish. We just put some money on the table and they gave us the cutest puppy in the world!

Then Shane said his iPod was the second best gift and his Bose was after that. He obviously loves music!

What are some of your favorite or most memorable Christmas presents?

This is where the My Little Pony’s lived! Paradise Estates! I would ask for this every Christmas and Birthday! I finally got it for Christmas one year. My mom let me play with it for a year then took it away and said I could have it back later – she recycled my toys so when I did get it back it was like a new toy! Evil or genius??

3rd Date of Christmas

3 Dec

Shane had his second date last Wednesday and it was the get out of the house date.

First I got flowers!

Then the husband took me to Starbucks, got us hot coco and we went to the River of Life at the Albuquerque Bio Park.

This was the first date and activity we have done that has felt like Christmas. It was beautiful! I went in high school and it’s not how I remember at all – it was so beautiful and the whole park filled with lights!  Below are some of my favorite – enjoy!
